TERMS AND CONDITIONS / WAIVER

By signing up to our classes, you are agreeing to the following cancellation policy, club rules, and assumption of risk form:

Cancellation Policy:

1. Cancellations anytime up to 24 hours before the class – entitled to a full refund (you can do this yourself by cancelling your space on the website or the ClassFit app).

2. Cancellations within 24 hours of the class starting – no refund UNLESS you have a medical problem (e.g. illness, mental health problem, or injury) – please contact us as soon as possible and we will process the cancellation so that you get a refund (or a class added back onto your class pass).

3. However, last minute cancellations (within 3 hours of the class beginning) will not be entitled to a refund unless it is a medical emergency.

4. Please note that this system is operated on a trust basis. Please do not take advantage of this cancellation system as we are a small business. Thank you!

Club Rules:

1. No discrimination – we are a safe space for all women and non-binary people. We will not tolerate discrimination of any kind, for example transphobia, homophobia, racism, sexism, ableism, or fatphobia. Please use gender neutral language when referring to the group as a whole. If you are unsure of somebody’s pronouns, please just ask them!

2. No body shaming/diet talk – ACC is a safe space away from judgement of body size/shape and diet talk. Please avoid any negative talk, even if discussing your own body/diet, as this can have an impact on other people.

3. Hygiene – please maintain good personal hygiene as you will be training in close quarters with your teammates. This includes always wearing clean kit, washing your handwraps after every use, and keeping your fingernails and toenails cut short. Please do not come to class if you are ill. Please also avoid wearing shoes on the mats.

4. Jewellery – all jewellery must be removed during training to prevent injuries to yourself or your teammates. Any piercings which cannot be removed should be taped.

Assumption of Risk Form:

Martial arts, as with all sports, carry an inherent risk of injury or harm and it is essential that you are fully aware of these dangers before taking part in our classes. Please read the following terms carefully and tick the form only if you are happy to proceed:

1. Martial arts carry inherent risks. Whilst your instructor will always do what is possible to minimise these risks and mitigate the possibility of harm occurring, there are certain dangers that are unavoidable.

2. Because of the nature of martial arts, and unarmed combat training, combined with martial arts-based fitness training, you will be exposed to many potential risks throughout your time training with Athena Combat Club. These include, but are not limited to slips, trips, sprains, falls, cuts, abrasions, contusion, swelling, and in some more uncommon cases, breaks and other serious injuries. It is important to us that you understand the nature of what you are about to participate in, and that you are happy to assume all risks having been made aware in advance of what these might be.

3. We train in a combination of unarmed combat disciplines – K1 Kickboxing and Muay Thai. We also combine fitness drills into most of our training, with some key martial arts-based fitness and martial arts-based conditioning too.

4. You always have the right to stop training at any point should you not feel comfortable performing any set technique or exercise, and you are under no pressure to complete any drill, technique, or exercise if you do not wish to.

5. If you do continue with this class and any subsequent classes, we ask that you take a moment to consider the nature of an intense combat class and what that might entail, including the above possible risks as identified – and any other potential injuries, such as contact during sparring, concussion, breaks, and others. These are very uncommon – but they can occur. Please ensure that you are happy to assume the inherent risks that come with training in martial arts.

6. You are welcome and encouraged to speak to your instructor if you’re not completely at ease with the risks being assumed, or not completely confident about what our classes entail.

7. By signing up to our classes you are confirming that you understand the nature of the activity in which you are about to participate. With this in mind, you agree that you are fit to participate and agree to assume all risks associated with the above, hereby withdrawing any liability from the named club, instructors, association, or other relevant parties. If you do have any medical issues that may be of concern, you further agree that a physician/doctor has cleared you to participate in a training program.

Having read in full the above assumption of risk disclosure, I confirm that I am happy and willing to accept the assumption of risks as presented and do so with a clear understanding of the potential for injury or harm in this class and any subsequent class. I have done so of my own volition and wish to participate without warranty or guarantee.
